Misty mornings on the bicycle, colourful leaves are flying through the air, the wind becoming more chilly, Autumn has come! Time to turn inwards. Here are some tips to help you transition into this beautiful season, which you will hopefully love as much as I do.
- Set routines. After the holidays and many of the activities that Summer offered us, there might be more time in your agenda to get back to your routines, or create new ones. A regular yoga, breath-work or meditation practice will have great impact on your daily mood, energy level, sleep and overall health. It can be helpful to write down your goals, starting small and remember to be prepared. Book your classes ahead, make a set time for your meditation or breath-work practice.
- Detox. Not specifically on food and drinks, but detox the busy energy of Summer. Autumn is all about slowing down. A nice yin class can really help to ground, or you could set the intention to let go of that energy and sweat it out in a fiery hot core flow yoga class!
- Calm down. Create a nice space in your home where you can sit down on a cushion 5-10 minutes a day for breathing exercises or meditation. Even a simple technique like the 5:5 breath will really help to balance out your nervous system. Sit in a comfortable position, breathe though the nose, in for 1-2-3-4-5 out for 5-4-3-2-1. Doing this only a few minutes per day will automatically make you become more aware of the breath throughout the day, which will keep you calmer and more relaxed.
- Make a cosy home. Drift away into a world of cosy and escape from the chaos of the outside with a comfy chair or meditation pillow. Introduce some candles, have a variety of warming teas and the most comfortable fleece blanket to snuggle under after enjoying this spectacular cinema nature gives us!
